Pros
+ A large, varied and rapidly growing collection of Japanese porn, covering the full range from solo girls, over hardcore guy/girl to plenty of gangbangs, lesbian sex and various more or less bizarre fetishes and activities.
You can expect quite a lot nurse and school girl uniform content for instance, something that seems extremely popular with the Japanese audience these movies were originally intended for, and much like on AV9898, the other Japanese porn site I reviewed earlier this year
+ Very long movies, full DVDs in fact, meaning typically 90-240 minutes. And unlike porn movies produced here in the West, which are usually divided up on a scene by scene basis, with a different girl in each one, Japanese porn more often than not seems to make just a single girl (occasionally with a few "sidekicks") the star of an entire movie
+ A healthy collection of photosets, solo girl glamour photography, which makes for a nice contrast to all the hardcore video action
+ Many of the girls are absolutely stunning, and that's coming from a guy who generally prefers European/Caucasian girls
+ Excellent video quality (except for the short video clips), 640x480+ and a high bitrate
+ New content added every couple of days
Cons
- Don't even think about joining JM46 unless you're on 2+ Mbit connection (or extremely patient). The movie files are huge, and unlike (Western) DVD download sites like VideoBox and VideosZ, they haven't bothered cutting the movies into the typical 4+ scenes or offering multiple qualities.
Alright, many of them are in fact cut into two or three segments/chapters, but you're still looking at 300-500 Mb chunks, making the full movies often in excess of 1.2 Gigabyte. And sometimes your only option is to actually download nearly all that in a single file.
- Most of the videos are censored with a blur/pixilation effect over the genitals. This is required by Japanese law, but at AV9898 (and some of the movies at JM46) they were using movies made for export, meaning the censor blur had been removed.
I imagine this could be a major deciding factor for us Westerners who aren't used to this kind of censorship
- The site design is pretty much a confusing mess, although if you're browsing the site leisurely it's actually a pretty entertaining mess with lots of flashy DVD covers, screen captures, short descriptions of the movies, popularity ratings etc.
- The oldest videos have been "archived in the backup server", and you'll need to email their customer service if you want to download them. You can still browse the DVD covers though, so you can get an idea of whether a specific movie is worth the extra effort
- 6 Gb daily download limit. Sounds like a lot, but with the size of these movies, those of you on blisteringly fast Internet connections might still feel it's not enough if you're on a download spree.
It's probably not nearly so bad you can't live with it though, it is afterall still some 8-12 full 90-180 minute movies. And with the "smaller" 300+ Mb chunks you don't need to download the full 1 Gig or so to find out if a particular movie is any good
- I'm still not a big fan of Japanese porn, the style is simply too different from what we're used to here in the West, even with what we usually call "Asian" porn (Katsumi, Mika Tan, Miko Lee, Nautica Thorn, Loni and many other girls who may or may not have set foot on Asian soil at some point in their life).
That's entirely a personal opinion though, and I haven't let it reflect on the scores
