Few days go by where I don’t rummage through the latest content updates at VideoBox, VideosZ and (though they only update several times a month rather than several times a day) ZTOD and Third Movies, looking at DVD covers and scene screenshots and briefly using the integrated Flash players to skip quickly through scenes, looking for those I’ll bother spending my time watching in their entirety or at least most of it.
Well, today’s new DVD at Third Movies, Big Butt Oil Orgy (starring Kristina Rose, Ava Rose, Lisa Ann, Sophie Dee and three other girls, plus a few guys) most certainly grapped my attention immediately, so right now I really just find myself cursing at the Third Movies download servers as they seem to be having one of their slow days. ~200-250 KB/s is so more or less acceptable in most cases, but not when you’ve got a DVD with a single 115 minute scene weighing in at 4.4 GB for the 720p HD version (edit: Well, their server certainly got back into a proper gear while I was watching TV. That large download finished in around an hour and a half instead of eight or more – it looks like I’ll be watching that big butt oil orgy on my HDTV tonight after all).
But if nothing else at least I can just use the Flash stream – which looks like it might be necessary as there’s currently eight hours left on that damn download.
If Big Butt Oil Orgy turns out as good or at least nearly as good as I’m hoping it is I imagine it will be the subject of a DVD review next week.

Most Subscribed and Portrait of a Lesbian at Viv Thomas Video

Viv Thomas Video really isn’t far behind the physical DVD and single movie downloads from the VT online store at vivthomas.com now.
This year’s so far best VT movie, the fantastic Most Subscribed with Peaches and a bunch of other girls (including Cindy Hope, Lucy Belle and Gina B.) she has her delightful way with, now has all its scenes available for download from Viv Thomas Video, and they’ve just added the first scene from Portrait of a Lesbian which was only just released on DVD a little over a month ago.
It isn’t quite as universally amazing as Most Subscribed in my opinion, but the scenes with main star Jo (my absolute favourite girl/girl performer) was certainly well worth the DVD purchase for me.
Jo’s scene with Zara – a relative newcomer who’s already won the Viv Thomas Babe of the Year award for 2009 and who’s previously best pairings include Vera and Nella in a few excellent VT scenes from last year – is actually among my favourite Jo scenes ever now, and it’s certainly not because there’s a shortage of spectacular ones to choose from.
To Tweet or not Twitter?

As I wrote in the news section on the main page yesterday, I’ve set up a Twitter account, made the first several posts and spent some time trying to wrap my head around how this social networking thing works.
So far it seems to confirm my previously entirely irrational hatred towards “social networking” site and “community” features (hey, I’m just not a very social guy by nature, online or off). It looks like most people – barring those who have fame or other types of name recognition to rely on – mainly gain “followers” by following loads of other Twitters and thus making their presence known, inspiring others to follow them in the hopes that the favor will be returned. And so on an so forth in an endless stream of returned favors to people you may have absolutely no interest in aside from getting their much valued seal of approval, an extra number added to your followers.
Just about everyone with a web site or a Twitter/Facebook/MySpace/whatever page obviously wants as big an audience as possible – I certainly do – but I would really prefer the vast majority of that audience to visit my site because they think they might find something of interest, rather than just to trade their click for one in return.
Mike’s Porn Site Reviews gets around 800 visitors a day. My web site statistics show that many of you stick around for a while and visit several or many pages – and that’s obviously my entire reason for spending so many hours working on them – but very few pay any attention to the social bookmarking and feed links on the main site or here on the blog, just as I virtually never do myself on the many sites I visit on a regular basis. There just seems to be little to no reason to do so when my web browser has perfectly fine bookmarking and session saving features.
For the same reasons I’m not really expecting the Twitter links I’ve put up to attract much interest, but I’ll be damned if I’ll resort to playing that anonymous Twitter trading game. Or maybe I will – I’ll give it a few days now and see what happens, but right now I’m sort of expecting I’ll drop it again and perhaps start using the blog here for more than just pornstar profiles again.
I try to keep the main review sections relatively unbiased and not unfairly favor certain sites over others (well, obviously I’ll always spend more times on updating reviews of great sites than those of mediocre ones), but I guess a blog is just the right place for giving my favourite sites just as much attention as I feel they deserve and as I typically pay them on an everyday basis.
