Pros
+ Club Sapphic is a new lesbian site that appears to be a collaboration between the DVD studio Sweetheart Video and the people behind the BrainPass network (or maybe the latter company actually owns the Sweetheart Video brand, it looks a little that way, although that's probably of little interest to members).
Club Sapphic has not been launched as part of the BrainPass network, but it does take advantage of the newly improved site interface from that network.
+ The videos at Club Sapphic, of which there are currently 102, share some obvious similarities to some of my favourite lesbian sites, in a phrase I think I've used before, "loving and intimate rather than pornstars fucking".
There's a lot of slow buildup here (many of the scenes clock in at 40+ minutes) with initial dialogue and sometimes very long foreplay (see the cons below as well for the potentially negative side of this coin) and the girls generally seem to really be into each other, and obviously the latter at least is very much a plus.
+ The girls however are certainly not the Sapphic Erotica bunch of often beautiful or downright gorgeous mostly Eastern European 18 to mid twenties girls, but in many cases rather what I personally consider average or moderately good looking women (and in at least a few cases downright unattractive), and in an age range that spans all the way from around 18-20 up to around 50.
Models I know, and these are mostly the good looking ones, include but are not limited to Holly Wellin, Lana Croft, Jana Cova, Nina Hartley, Stephanie Swift, Micah Moore, Sinn Sage, Gianna Michaels, Mika Tan, Mae Victoria, Keisha and Lindsey Meadows.
+ Two weekly video and photo updates.
+ Very powerful site interface as already mentioned, so powerful in fact that its search and sorting options are almost complete overkill on a site with this relatively little content, but obviously there was probably no reason for them not to use the one they already had.
+ Good video quality, even if DVD resolution at 2000 kbit is starting to look a bit outdated compared to the videos on the ever growing number of HD sites.
Cons
- 102 videos and 61 photosets might be a decent amount in some niches, and for a new sites it's certainly an acceptable amount to launch with, but the best lesbian sites out there are generally rather huge, so Club Sapphic looks somewhat understocked in comparison.
- While I've often proclaimed my love for the intimate and loving style of lesbian porn from sites/studios like Viv Thomas and Sapphic Erotica, their movies damn near play out like fast paced action movies compared to most of the videos at Club Sapphic.
As I mentioned above there's a ton of slow buildup in most of the scenes here (the most extreme example among the scenes I watched was a 48 minute video with Nina Hartley and Sinn Sage where the kissing started around 25 minutes into the video, although the first part was admittedly an interview rather than excessive "storyline"), so much that I can't help feel that these videos were first and foremost made for a female audience (and according to my quick research the writer/director is a woman), while the content from Viv Thomas, Sapphic Erotica etc., though reportedly quite popular with many women, is at least just as much made for men (and by men) who happen to love watching beautiful girls having sex with each other.
- Which brings me back to the models at Club Sapphic. While I'm sure there will be people out there who appreciate the "amateur look" of many of them, I'll take my usual gorgeous and usually at least as charismatic and experienced Hungarian and Czech babes.
Or if not those then at least some of the almost or just as gorgeous American pornstars that the competing US lesbian DVD studio Girlfriends Films regularly makes use of. As you can see from the model examples I listed above, there are certainly some good looking girls at Club Sapphic, but the overall impression I get from looking through the model archive is definitely a very different one from what I'm used to on the lesbian sites I normally frequent.
