Update, September 5 2007
One Girl a Day was run as a collaboration between two companies. One, the main content provider, apparantly pulled out recently, while the other - the creator of Virtua Girl 2 and Strip Saver 2 - decided to keep the site, but with their own video and photo content.
At the time of writing there's very little content on the site, 36 solo babe videos and photosets (as a bonus you do get free access to Virtua Girl 2 plus a large video site network), but I've been told that around 400 HD videos plus photosets are being prepared for the site, and additionally the monthly price will be lowered by 50%.
I'll wait until those changes have taken effect before I redo this review.
Pros
+ A huge site very similar in both content types and design to other mega sites like Pix & Video and Club Sandy.
One Girl a Day has been around even longer though, since January 2001, and with a new video and photoset every single day (all content exclusive), this site is even larger than the competition.
So really worth a full review rather than a quick review then? Yep, but I've already got somewhat of an overweight of these types of sites among the full reviews, so I'm rather selective with those now, and as I mention in my quick review notes, not getting the full treatment doesn't mean the site in question isn't worth the extra time, just that I felt a quick review should get the job done (and as you may have noticed, my quick reviews tend to end up a bit longer and more detailed than planned anyway)
+ As the review categories should tell you, solo masturbation (or just parading around looking hot with the softer content), lesbian and hardcore guy/girl (occasionally including anal or threesomes) is what you get at One Girl a Day, prioritized in that order. You typically get one or two lesbian and one guy/girl set every week, the remaining ones are solo videos/photosets
+ A whole lot of gorgeous babes, more than 600 of them, many of them the same East European babes we're used to seeing on a number of other sites (and for very good reason), but also a lot of fresh faces I personally haven't seen before
+ Pretty powerful site interface, using a calendar interface as well as category and model name listings and a full model directory. Model info includes nationality, hair/eye color and various measurements
+ As mentioned a new content set including both video and photoset every single day. I didn't check every single month in the calendar interface, but it looks like they haven't missed a day since launch in January 2001
+ Great video quality since around late 2004, 640x480, 1100 kbit and two lower quality options available as well. Older videos play at 320x240, 900 kbit or 384x216, 400 kbit and thanks to the relatively high bitrate on the first of the two, they don't look too bad. The 400 kbit videos are somewhat less impressive though
From 2004 and onwards, videos can be downloaded in either a single file or in typically two to six parts
+ The photo content looks great as well, particularly since 2004 as well. Three different resolutions are available, the largest one an impressive and very sharp looking ~1050x1600 pixels. All these sets can be downloaded in a zip file as well as viewed online.
Older photos are as expected somewhat less impressive, around 500x800.
Cons
- A bit more variation wouldn't hurt, but the same could be said for many other great sites based around one or a few concepts. It's just more obvious the larger the site gets. This is bordering on nit-picking though
- And more nit-picking here. The already very good site interface could probably be enhanced even further with better search features and/or more detailed content categories (there are only nine, adding something like perhaps clothing categories might be a nice idea)
- I was strongly considering a 20/20 score in quality, considering they already switched to 640x480 videos and high res photos back in 2004, but in terms of video quality, things are starting to move forward, and the 1100 kbit bit rate isn't quite as spectacular as it was just a year ago (coupled with the 640x480 resolution or higher).
It's still great and there are certainly a ton of sites out there where the quality as a whole lot worse, but formats like 720x480, 2000 kbit and higher (check my Technology Leaders page) are slowly starting to appear on an increasing number of sites
