Special Dollar/Euro Pricing Info
Updated August 2008
The US Dollar hasn't been particularly strong for a quite a while now (in fact I don't think it's ever been weaker), and that probably means non-US porn site companies are losing money if they keep charging everyone in USD.
This means that an ever increasing number of sites over the last year or so have changed their billing methods to charge Americans in USD and Europeans in Euros. And the biggest blow to us Europeans have been that we are typically charged say €29.95, at the time of writing a whopping $44, while US customers are usually still only paying the usual $29.95.
While that initially seems rather harsh, it is worth keeping in mind that while Europeans might be loosing a bit of money on these sites, we are of course actually saving money on many others (as well as assorted other products we might buy online and pay for in Dollars) thanks to the very same weak USD.
And it's not like we aren't used to paying more for just about everything over here anyway - not that that really makes the higher prices any easier to accept of course.
On a sidenote, I really don't know which currency they might charge you in if you live in any other part of the world, but I imagine it will still often be one of those two. I live in an EU country (Denmark) where we've held onto our old currency, and yet I'm still presented with the prices in Euro.
A select few sites now also appear to charge all customers, regardless of nationality, in Euro, but so far the sites in question are so spectacular that I personally feel those $40+ are well worth it.
