A whole lot of site networks are based on a selection of "reality porn" sites and All Sites Access is no exception.
The company behind the network is one of the big boys in the online adult business, and several of the 16 included sites - the oldest ones dating back to around 2001 - are very likely to be familiar to experienced porn surfers.
So what's included in the package then, and how does it stack up to the competition in this pretty overcrowded market of reality sites that tend to look just a bit too much like carbon copies of each other?
Well, at first look the network as a whole definately doesn't appear to be lacking in neither variety nor quantity.
You got milfs, lesbian coeds, black babes, big natural tits, blowjobs and facials, latina, sex parties, "random" girls tricked into sex (yeah, that's reality porn for you - sorry, I'm not a big fan), and for those with a healthy dose of curiosity there's even a large tranny site included.
Most of the sites have very impressive video and photo collections, some of them closing in on or even surpassing around a hundred hours of video, and with a couple of exceptions most of them are still updated weekly with a new episode consisting of video and photoset.
So with sheer quantity sufficiently covered, how does varity fare after a closer inspection. Pretty well - many of the sites are definately very different in nature, but I do feel however that quite a few of them are overlapping a bit too much and can mainly be summed up as pretty bland cock-in-pussy sex (and the occasional anal scene) with more or less interesting "reality" setups.
While that may detract from the overall entertainment value, there were still several sites in the network that I truly enjoyed and that even on their own would probably have been worth the 25 bucks that includes full network access.
Moving onto the techincal quality of the content, the photos generally look pretty good and not just like an afterthought to the videos. The resolution could do with a boost though, but the 800 pixels is acceptable.
The subject of the video quality is going to turn into a pretty long speech I'm afraid.
It's generally quite good on all recent videos, with the mpeg version playing at 480x320, 1200 kbit.
Unfortunately they have chosen to make the clips annoyingly short - only one minute each, so you end up with a whole slew of them that you need to first go through the trouble downloading (which is a bothersome game of too many mouse clicks and monitoring finished downloads so you can line up the next batch), and then afterwards queue them all up in a playlist when you want to watch the full video.
But hey, they've been nice enough to offer you larger chunks instead of the short one-minute clips - typically two or three files in Windows Media (wmv) format.
Yep, and that would have been nice indeed if they hadn't made the fairly braindead decision to cut the framerate in half on those videos (and cut the bitrate down to 550 as well).
If there's one thing I tend to find even more annoying than low resolution or low bitrate videos, it's watching something that's not exactly a slideshow but still far too close for my taste.
15 pictures per second (even 20 as it is on some) is not okay - it's about ten short of what the human eye perceives as fluid motion, and frankly I get a headache if I have to watch these videos for much more than a few minutes.
So what was worst - downloading 30-50 way too short clips for every scene or trying to pretend the larger chunks were not really all that bad? Well, I hated both options, and in the end I ended up downloading a lot fewer movies from this network that I'm used to on nine out of ten other sites.
If that's a calculated move to save bandwidth it's pretty damn cheap of them. If it's not I don't know what the hell they were thinking when they decided on the half framerate thing.
Either way, this seriously detracted from my overall experience with the network, which is a shame really considering they obviously have a lot of great content on many of the sites.
And that final statement pretty much sums up how I feel about the All Sites Access network. It has loads of great video and photo content, no doubt about it - although a bit too much of it turns out a tad too plain and too much like generic guy/girl fucking for my taste - but the sites are plagued with some annoying quality, download and design decisions that really bugged down the experience for me, and that's a bit of a shame really.
